When we started the Web/Mobile Development online 1:1 mentored Bootcamp back in 2017 the idea was to offer the second best (to the in-person one) bootcamp offering the closest possible experience and level of instructors support to the students who can not attend the in-person camp for some reasons — would it be the money, time or lack of ability to be in Barcelona for 2 months.
Online (hence, affordable)
Hence, remote! The biggest benefit af all here for a student is the cost, which is like 3 times lower than the in-person bootcamp’s. Plus any possible travel and accommodation expenses, it’s a huge factor!
Staying at home in your favorite chair while studying an be a big support. Of course, it’s not the same as being with an instructor in the same onsite classroom for 8 hours per day but it is really the next best thing.
If you code doesn’t work — send us the code and a question via chat and get an answer virtually immediately (if it is during the day). Often we answer the questions even during the weekends.
If you code works — send us the code and we will review it and give you feedback on what can be improved!
Mentored (you are never alone)
We wanted to make the online bootcamp not only be the most affordable but also to be the far cry from the abundance of self-learning online courses.
The reason was that we’ve heard so many times from our students that they’ve started to learn programming with one of the self-learning platforms and then eventually sooner or later hit the wall. Without someone to properly ask questions it was impossible to move forward.
Or little by little smaller questions have accumulated and then eventually collapsed into feeling of being lost and not understanding what they are doing except for blindly follow the steps of tutorials. Tutorials worked, but once they wanted to build something on their own from scratch there was a lack of understanding of bigger picture, of how everything comes into places, which logic, approach and tools to choose and so on.
So what we created is a mentored bootcamp, where instructors are available every weekday, 9:00–18:00 in the chat to answer any questions. For the students it’s important to keep moving forward and not lose pace, so waiting for an answer days is not an option!
1:1 (it’s about you)
With our Web/Mobile Development online 1:1 mentored Bootcamp of course students can get in touch with each other in the general chat, collaborate and cooperate which we encourage to do.
However, all the main course work will go between you and your instructor. They will know your progress, your struggles, your strength and weakness and work tirelessly to make sure that you personally achieve the best from your bootcamp.
And apart from chat support you will have weekly video calls to work on any current matters. 1:1 means that you will be in focus, not the group you are in!
Provided that the curriculum, scope and the outcomes for the online bootcamp are the same as of the in-person one and that you can take it in full-time berserk mode and finish in 9 weeks (as students on campus do), in more humane 13 weeks or combine with your current job in 16-week duration it seems that we hit the target in the bullseye. Which is backed up by all the wonderful people who took it and pivoted their career with day by day grit and sweat.
And that makes a difference (at least for us).
